Lend to people
you trust,
without the awkwardness.
Snokonoko turns a loan between friends or family into a clear digital agreement that repays itself, so the money never gets in the way of the relationship.
Four steps from an awkward favour to a settled agreement.
-
01
Write the terms
Set the amount and choose how you'll be repaid: a fixed monthly amount, a share of each deposit, or a deduction when salary or a grant arrives.
-
02
They accept
They read the terms in plain language, including exactly what they'll repay, and accept digitally. The agreement freezes at that moment.
-
03
You send the money
Pay through a licensed South African payment provider. The loan goes live the moment your payment is confirmed, not before.
-
04
Repayments run themselves
They follow the terms you both accepted, and stop the moment the balance hits zero. No reminders, no chasing, no awkward WhatsApp messages.
Repayment that fits how people actually get paid.
Not everyone earns the same way, or on the same day. Choose the rule that matches how money reaches the person you're helping.

One fee. No interest.
No surprises.
Snokonoko charges a single administration fee of 10% of the loan amount: for the platform, the payment handling, and the record that keeps both of you honest. That's the only charge there is.
- The lender comes out level
- You put in R550.00 and you get R550.00 back. The fee is carried by the borrower, not by you.
- Both of you see it first
- The full breakdown is on screen before an offer is sent, and again before it's accepted.

- R550.00
They borrow R500.00 and repay R550.00 over the terms you both agreed. You get back every rand you put in. The fee is what Snokonoko charges for running it. No interest, and no late fees: the amount never grows. Loans run from R450 to R5000.
Every loan is a real agreement.
A WhatsApp message can be deleted, forgotten, or argued about. On Snokonoko, the terms you both accept become a record neither side can quietly change, which is the whole point.
- Nothing before it's agreed
- An offer can be declined or withdrawn any time before acceptance, at no cost to either of you.
- Cancel automatic repayments anytime
- A repayment mandate isn't a lock-in: it can be cancelled at any time, with nothing collected outside the terms you agreed to.
Agreement terms
You are borrowing R2,000.00 and will repay R2,200.00 in total, which includes a R200.00 admin fee. Whenever a salary payment greater than R5,000.00 enters your account, R600.00 will automatically go toward repaying the loan.

Questions people ask.
Is Snokonoko a loan company?
No. We never lend our own money, we charge no interest, and we are not a registered credit provider. Every loan is between two people who already know each other. We provide the agreement, the record and the payment handling. What we are and aren't →
What if someone doesn't pay?
Both sides always see the agreement and the full repayment history, so there's never confusion about what's outstanding. But be clear on this: we don't guarantee repayment, we don't chase borrowers, and we don't charge penalties or list anyone with a credit bureau. If a loan isn't repaid, the money at risk is the lender's. Lend accordingly.
Is my banking information safe?
Payments run through established, PCI-DSS compliant South African payment providers: your card details go to them, never to us; we only ever see whether a payment succeeded. Everything else you send us travels encrypted, and passwords are stored in a form nobody can read back, us included. Privacy Policy →
What can the other person see about me?
Your name, the loan's terms and balance, and each repayment. That's it. They never see your ID number, your bank details or your address. Lending here isn't anonymous by design: it's built for people who already know each other.
What if a payment fails, or I don't recognise a charge?
A declined or failed card charge changes nothing on your loan: the balance only ever drops once a payment actually clears, so a failed attempt just means trying again. If you spot a charge you don't recognise or think was made in error, tell us and we'll investigate it with the payment provider. Refund & Dispute Policy → or contact us directly.
